Why "ClearMoneySchool"?

A friend asked me what I'd call my dream finance education site, if I were starting one. I said something about wanting it to feel clear, friendly, and instructional, like the opposite of every finance term I'd ever had to look up twice.

ClearMoneySchool is doing the work of three words at once.

Clear is the bet. Most finance writing is built for people who already speak the language. Definitions reference other definitions. Articles assume context the reader doesn't have. Every lesson on this site is written with the opposite goal: zero unexplained jargon, with concepts introduced in the same sentence they're first used.

Money is the topic. Not "wealth," not "capital," not "investing strategy." Just money, the thing every adult deals with every day, that we somehow never get taught how to handle.

School is the promise. This isn't a newsletter, a tip sheet, a Twitter thread, or a hot take. It's structured education. Real lessons in a real order, with quizzes to check that it's actually landing, and a glossary to look up anything that doesn't.

That's the whole name. It's not a clever portmanteau. It's just three words doing their job.

Other names that lost to this one: PlainMoney, FinanceForReal, MoneyAtSchool, TheJargonFreeFinanceSite, TheRealMoneyTalk, UncomplicatedMoney, and roughly forty other failed brainstorms.
